At Henshaws College, we provide high quality Further Education and training to residential and day students with learning difficulties and disabilities, specialising in visual impairment. Students follow personalised programmes combining Independence Skills with Employability Skills. We offer vocational pathways in Art & Craft, Retail & Administration, Communications & Media, Horticulture and Hospitality, with opportunities for work experience both on and off campus. Individual learning support needs are met by specialist resources and professional staff, including a range of therapies. Our extended programme provides a wide choice of leisure activities. Henshaws provides community housing for people with learning difficulties and disabilities, including visual impairment. Our houses are all located in pleasant, ordinary, residential areas and range from 3 to 6 bedrooms. Most houses provide 24-hour care, given by experienced staff, but some houses offer a supported living service to tenants. Everyone who lives in a community house is given ongoing living skills training in their home by trained rehabilitation officers from Henshaws Vision Support Service.
